Just a quick note to confirm that the soul nights promoted as "Soul by the Sea" finished last November @ Fleetwood's Marine Hall. I want to thank everybody who attended in any capacity for their support.
Original Northern Soul promoter Malc Worsley (who I also worked at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool) left after the February 2007 night after problems with a few "locals" who disrespected the Northern Soul fans, and he now promotes successful events at Cleveleys British Legion. We never had such problems in the Modern Soul room, but unfortunately revivals proved less than successful in late 2007.
I am sure I could of carried on with the help of Anne Cragg (door lady extraordinaire) and Chris Priestley (my partner in crime at www.seductivesoul.com ) but nobody was pleased with the changes, and so its a team decision to leave while we still have great memories, so please note that any other events promoted at this venue or using the name www.soulbythesea.co.uk have nothing to do with us. I want to thank Kieron and the team for all their hard work and encouragement.
Although it is bitterly disappointing to leave after over 3 years and attendances that peaked at +700 it is now time to move on. This is not new to me as Soul by the Sea started in St Annes on Sea @ the Fernlea Hotel in August 2000, and moved onto the Claremont Hotel, before 3 years at Blackpool's Winter Gardens, leading to Fleetwood. Although I can't release details at the moment of our next move you can catch some Soul by the Sea with me at The Blackpool Soul Weekender 14th -16th November, and at the Luxury Soul Weekender @ Blackpool's Hilton Hotel 2nd - 4th January 2009.
